Work at Height Training

Course Description
Work at height is work in any place, including a place at above or below ground level, where a person could be injured if they fell from that place. Access and egress to a place of work can also be work at height. 

Course Outline
Successful participants will be able to work safely at heights in the workplace with minimal supervision by identifying the requirements of the job, accessing and installing the required equipment, and cleaning up the work area. They will also be able to conduct a risk assessment of the job. Specific topics include:
Legislative and work place procedures. BOWEC - Building Operations and Works of EngineeringConstruction) (SAFETY) Regulation 1986

  • Hazards associated with working at height.
  • Conduct and document a risk assessment.
  • Select, inspect and work within the limitations of portable ladders and platforms.
  • Safe working requirements for working with scaffold, edge protection and elevating work platforms.
  • Selection and use of fall injury prevention systems.
  • Anchors and attachment devices.
  • Rescue Planning On-Site Delivery Requirements Participants must wear site approved work wear and PPE.

For delivery at a client site the following must be provided to meet the outcomes of the course:

  • A harness for each participant.
  • A sound structure permitting a number of work at height scenarios, including a platform and a variety of anchor points.
  • A serviceable straight or extending ladder.

Objectives

This course introduces the principles, best practice, risks and equipment associated with working at height activities. It will enable delegates to recognize the hazards and risks involved in carry out work at height and also to be able to plan effectively how they will work in order to minimize those risks.

  • Maintenance crew, Engineers, Supervisors, Leaders, apprentice, any person who is working at height

Certification 

  • Certificates of Attendance in “Work at Height”  are awarded to participants on successful completion of course of 2days

Course Content

Day 1

  • BOWEC - Building Operations and Works of Engineering
  • Construction) (SAFETY) Regulation 1986.
  • Understand the principle legislation on working at height
  • Work at Height regulations eg.50,51, 62 etc.
  • Recognize the hazards when working at height
  • Recognize the hazards associated with ladders and stepladders
  • Consider the factors in organizing and planning work at height
  • Carryout a risk assessment for working at height
  • Select and use the correct low level access equipment

Day 2

  • Organizing & planning work at height
  • Competence of harness, harness inspection and understand the tool compliance
  • OJT – on Job Training at the side, competent person work at height
  • Risk Assessment, Post Mortem report of the safe act and unsaved condition
  • Group Presentation
  • Written Exam
  • Q & A Certificate Presentation
